The manual carpool pickup process is a nightmare for school teachers, parents, and students. Frustrated parents wait in long lines, as teachers with walkie-talkies try to identify parents (with or without carpool numbers/names on the dashboards) in line so that they can radio the classrooms to dismiss the appropriate kids. Inclement weather conditions makes this process even more challenging for teachers & students in the pickup areas (extreme temperatures or rain drenched), and even longer wait times for parents. Other schools dismiss all their students into the pickup area (to avoid using the walkie-talkie), but creating a very crowded, chaotic, and unsafe pickup area.
